Remember, we are at the John Shield’s School, not the library.

Here are the setup hours:

July 20, Tuesday, 9 Am til we get tired or 2 PM if we are still working by then.

July 21, Wednesday, we will discuss on Tuesday after we see how far we are!

July 22, Thursday, again, we will discuss on Wednesday after we see how far we are and if Thursday is necessary!

IF I KNOW YOU ARE COMING I WILL TRY TO HAVE LUNCH FOR US!

Here are the teardown hours:

July 26, Monday, 10 AM til we are done! Hopefully we sell all the books!!

Corn Boil Used Book Sale Location:

John Shield’s Elementary School Multi Purpose Room – 85 Main Street, Sugar Grove, IL 60554. Behind the school and next to the gym in Volunteer Park.

Volunteers:

You can come whenever you have time of course but for planning purposes, it would really help us to know your availability date and time so I can send out a schedule to everyone.

If you can call or email me (info above) and tell me what times you will be available and what you would like to do, that would help us coordinate this effort and insure we have full coverage.

If you commit to a time and find you can’t make it, please try to find someone to take your place.

If you are a volunteer who is helping with setup and/or take down you can park in the lot behind the school by the gym and multipurpose room at John Shields Elementary School. (Not during the Corn Boil.)

If you are a volunteer who is helping during the sale, there will be marked and limited parking on the community streets. There will be parking out by Village Hall and a shuttle will be running back and forth but it takes some time for it to get there and then get back to a park entrance.

For seniors and handicapped helping during the sale, there is usually parking in front of the school but that too is limited. Let me know if you have a need to be in this parking area and I can try to make special arrangements, if I know in advance.

Setup Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday – July 21, 22 & 23, 2009:

· Thanks to Perry Clark and the Women of the Northern IL Thunder Softball 16U team and their folks and Nicks Furniture we will need no trucks or cars to help move the books from the warehouse.

Perry’s Note to me: “Moving books on Monday July 19th, 2010 from 5:00 – 7:30pm. NO help or cars needed! I will be using the moving truck from Nick’s Furniture and using the manual labor provided by Northern IL Thunder Softball 16U team and their parents.

My thoughts were to have all the girls and parents load truck and then when finished I would drive it over to John Shields and have them unload. Ron, Don and Pat would supervise and direct where books would be placed.

We will NOT be available to move books back to storage on Monday July 26th, 2010. Our team has qualified and will attending the USSSA World Series in Columbus Indiana…sorry

Please let me know if this works out for everyone…

Perry “PC” Clark

pclark45@sbcglobal.net”

Congratulations to Perry and the team and boy a big round of thanks too!

· We will meet in the John Shield’s Multi Purpose Room at 9 AM on Tuesday, July 20 to begin the setup process.

· If you have some strong teenagers bring them with as the boxes of books are heavy and the kids seem to have no problem at all.

· Those who are going to setup the books will start by setting up the tables and benches and setting up the books that are already in the Multi Purpose Room. We will be there to help and direct placement.

· We will work on Wednesday, July 21st, 9 AM til we get tired or stop at 2 PM if we haven’t quit by then.

Thursday, July 23rd (if we are not done) we will meet again at 9 AM at the school.

  Teardown:

We will take it all down on Monday, July 26. We will work from 9 AM til we get done. Again, strong bodies and help getting the books packed up and into the storage unit would be great. Then we have to tidy up before we leave the multipurpose room.

Volunteering to actually work during the sale:

If you are available to help during the sale for a whole time slot or just a few hours, we have many things we need your help with so if you let me know the day and times you are available ASAP, I can get a schedule written up and sent to you all.

· Here are some things we need help with:

We would like to have a table setup with information about the library and have someone there who can pass out information and possibly answer questions people may have on the library, used book store and café. Also taking cash for book bags, etc. Giving other volunteers time to eat or take a walk.

Straightening the used books that are on the tables for sale.

Placing the sold books in customer’s bags after customers purchase them.

Helping people to their cars (we might be able to get a golf cart for large orders.)

We need volunteers to cover Friday from 4 pm til 11 pm

We need volunteers to cover Saturday from 10 am til 9 pm

We need volunteers to cover Sunday from 11 am til 6 pm

As I said parking can sometimes be hard so please leave early so that you get to the sale on time. Customers are always lined up at the door and waiting to go as soon as we open!

Things sometimes change even with the best of plans, so please understand if there is a change. We apologize but sometimes we aren‘t able to get the word out to everyone in advance. We will try our best to keep you all informed and remember your suggestions are always appreciated too!

It’s that time again! On February 5, 2008, voters will again be asked to support the library in a referendum question that asks for an increase in the operations rate to $.25 per $100 of assessed value. That means the library is asking the owner of a $300,000 home to pay approximately $332.47 a year to keep the library open and providing the level of service our community should expect from a public library.

It’s especially crucial at this time because the new building will be completed in the Fall of 2009, and the funds generated by passage of this referendum will be received by the library in July of 2009–just in the nick of time for the move to the larger, better equipped facility.

To learn how you can help educate the community about the referendum, email Tina Cella at tcella@viacorebus.com or Pat Graceffa at patdangraceffa@msn.com. Detailed information about the referendum can be found in the
